Biography

Naomi Gronich graduated medical school at Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, and received her MD in 1998.
After completion of internal medicine residency at Meir Hospital, Kfar-Sava, she specialized in clinical pharmacology at the NIH (National Institute of Health), Maryland, USA.
In 2009, she joined the Department of Community Medicine and Epidemiology as part of the Personalized Medicine Unit, and the Carmel Medical Center Internal Medicine Department, both in Haifa.

Research Activities

  • Studied the ß2f, a small ß subunit of the L-type calcium channel, in the human heart, by immunoprecipitation from human heart tissue and identification by mass spectrometry
  • Studied the occurrence of ion channels splicing variations differences in human ischemic cardiomyopathy and healthy laser-captured microdissected myocytes, by splice microarray and real-time PCR
  • Conducted and analyzed heart rate variability study in normal volunteers receiving physiologic stimulation and pharmacologic autonomic blockade
  • Co-authored the study protocol and the Investigational New Drug (IND) application for the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) of a Phase 1 clinical study of R-R-fenoterol for the treatment of congestive heart failure
  • Studied the correlation between ZAP70/CD38 levels and the cytogenetic aberrations (by FISH) in chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients
  • Investigated the outcome of low grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients with contradicting bone marrow results at diagnosis (negative morphologic appearance of the biopsy specimen and positive cytology of the aspirate)
  • Studied the effect of simvastatin on multiple myeloma cell lines' various variables: viability, cell cycle, apoptotic measures, intracellular calcium concentration, IL-6 secretion and tyrosine phosphorylation activity
